RLPP is located in Ras Laffan Industrial City, 80 kilometers north of Doha, and was constructed by Ras Laffan Petrochemical Company, a joint venture between Qatar Energy and Chevron Phillips Chemical Company.
Samsung Engineering is responsible for the design of the process area, including C2 hydrogenation unit, hydrogen purification unit, main compressor and other major ethylene production facilities.
The engineering, procurement and construction of RLPP will be executed by a joint venture between Samsung Engineering CO., Ltd. and CTCI Corporation.
The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2026, with a planned annual production capacity of 2.08 million tons, and will become one of the largest ethylene plants in the world.
Samsung Engineering is one of the top 50 EPC in the ENR. This is the first direct cooperation between HGT and Samsung Engineering. Since the two parties established contact in 2016, HGT has made unremitting quotations for more than ten projects in seven years, Intensive and continuous communication on technical and business aspects, finally won the trust of customers and stood out among many auxiliary equipment suppliers in Korea and Europe.
Wang Yong Choi, Purchasing Director of Samsung Engineering highly affirmed HGT and placed high hopes on the future cooperation between the two parties. He pointed out that HGT is an ideal supplier of condenser for large-scale projects. It has the professional knowledge and experience to successfully complete many ethylene projects.
This cooperation has great significance to HGT. Not only has it successfully developed new overseas customers, but it is also the first time for HGT to provide auxiliary equipment for ethylene diesel hydrogenation units in the Middle East. It is another major milestone in the EPC business development and international market development in the Middle East.
